A DEFINITION OF MISSIONS P eople use the words "mission" and "missions" often, but what do they mean? Are they the same thing? Are they different? How are they related? Here is a useful way of thinking about "mission" and "missions." m m Mission (without the "s") speaks to God's turning toward the world in love. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him." (John 3:16-17) God created the world. God loves the world. God is redeeming the world. God will bring to completion what God desires for the world, "...that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:19). Can you think of ways that you understan are.

Our Mission
Founded in 2009 Arms for Hope has been serving our communities for over 25 years. Our organization was established to address the growing need for assistance for those facing financial, medical, or social challenges.

ONE DOLLAR. It doesn't seem like a dollar can get us much these days but for Arms for Hope, International, a dollar can buy a toothbrush for a child in Haiti, a bar of soap for a family in Gambia, or even shampoo for families in Congo. These simple items that we use on a daily basis that promotes good health and hygiene in America, are l
ONE DOLLAR. It doesn't seem like a dollar can get us much these days but for Arms for Hope, International, a dollar can buy a toothbrush for a child in Haiti, a bar of soap for a family in Gambia, or even shampoo for families in Congo. These simple items that we use on a daily basis that promotes good health and hygiene in America, are luxury items for the people less fortunate and for the people in Third World Countries. One Item at a Time is a vision that Arms for Hope, International CEO, Linda Allen, LPN, came up with while planning for her mission trip travels. What could she contribute to the villages in Haiti, or the families in Guatemala? What could she pack with her that would make a difference for families around the world? One Item at a Time focuses on one specific item to collect by donations each month. By the time Nurse Allen and the mission teams travel, they would be able to put together care packages for people in need. Care packages could include: handmade pillow dresses for girls made by the ladies of First Baptist Church, knitted hats made by a patient at Manassas Internal Medicine (where Nurse Allen is also a Practice Administrator); bath essentials like soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Whatever item it may be for the month, it's an item that would help make a difference in the lives of people near and far. The packages are even carried throughout travel to its final destination by Nurse Allen and the mission teams to ensure delivery to those that are in need the most. Commonly donated items include: bar soap, Vaseline, toothbrush, toothpaste The next time you run into a dollar, 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels or even 100 pennies, remember that your change can change the world by donating it towards Arms for Hope, International and the One Item at a Time vision.
